AADPA’s 7th Annual ADHD Conference will be held at The Westin Brisbane from 27 – 28 July 2024, with additional workshops on Friday, 26 July.

The two-day conference with the theme “Collaborative Care: The Future of ADHD”, offers attendees the opportunity to network with like-minded peers and learn the latest in ADHD research, education, and treatment options from leading experts in the field of ADHD including international keynote speakers, Professor Emily Simonoff, Associate Professor Renata Schoeman and Professor Ian Wong.

The conference will be held in a hybrid fashion with in-person attendance at The Westin Brisbane and virtual attendance through the CVENT Virtual Attendee Hub. As a hybrid event, you’ll have access to session recordings for up to 90 days post-conference to view whenever you like via the CVENT Virtual Attendee Hub.

Professor Emily Simonoff

Intersections of Neurodevelopment: The Science and Clinical Management of Co-Occurring Autism and ADHD

Emily Simonoff is a Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, where she is also head of the Department and Director of the King’s Maudsley Partnership for Children and Young People. She is a UK National Institute of Health Research Senior Investigator and academic lead for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Clinical Academic Group at the South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust.

Assoc. Prof. Renata Schoeman

Bridging The Gap: Triumphs and Trials in ADHD Care in Underprivileged Communities

Renata Schoeman (MBChB, MSocSc, MMed, FC Psych, PhD, MBA) is Assoc. Professor: Leadership and Head of the Healthcare Leadership MBA specialization stream at the University of Stellenbosch Business School, Cape Town, and a virtual faculty member of the University of Stellenbosch Business School Executive Development Program. Co-founder and Director of Goldilocks And The Bear, Renata has been in full-time private practice as a general Psychiatrist for more than 15 years with special interests in disorders affecting attention, concentration, learning and memory, such as ADHD.

Professor Ian Wong

Application of Healthcare Big Data in the Evaluation of ADHD Medications and Real-Life Health Outcomes

Ian Wong is Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy at the University of Hong Kong. He holds the Lo Shiu Kwan Kan Ling Endowed Professorship in Pharmacy and was a top 1% scholar in pharmacology and pharmacy research from 2015 to 2023. Prof. Wong has led many research programmes on ADHD in the UK, Europe, and Hong Kong and was a member of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guideline development group on ADHD. Ian has over 600 publications in prominent journals, including Nature portfolio journals, JAMA Network Journals, The Lancet family journals, and BMJ journals.

Professional Workshops

Following the success of last year’s Workshop Program, we’re pleased to offer a series of four new half-day workshops, each designed to provide invaluable insights, practical knowledge, and actionable strategies that will undoubtedly enhance participants’ awareness.

Workshop registration closes on Wednesday, 24 July 2024, with all workshops held on Friday, 26 July, at The Westin Brisbane. Registration is $149 per workshop, including refreshments. 

Led by Kate Tognarini, Dr Roger Paterson and Prof. Dave Coghill, this comprehensive half-day workshop, tailored for pharmacists and professionals involved in prescribing ADHD medications, will cover the latest updates, best practices, and ethical considerations in ADHD medication management from the ADHD Prescribing Manual.

Coaches are collaborative by virtue of their training and form a valuable part of any treatment team, often liaising and advocating with schools and workplaces. Led by Dr Michele Toner, OAM, This workshop will provide an overview of the ADHD coaching process, and how it differs from therapy and other allied health practices. Case studies will be included and specific coaching niches will also be highlighted.

Psychologists can have diverse roles in ADHD management. Led by Dr Sarah Medland, This workshop will explore the distinctions between various titles, providing clarity on their abilities to diagnose, treat, and manage ADHD under current guidelines.

Led by Dr Sarahn Lovett, this workshop is specifically curated for healthcare professionals seeking comprehensive education on ADHD. The latest resources, evidence-based practices, and practical tools to enhance your ability to diagnose, treat, and manage ADHD in a healthcare setting.

Dedicated Networking Events

The conference offers the opportunity to extend your professional network and engage with some of the most influential academics and clinicians working in the field of ADHD.
