This award honours Prof. Flo Levy’s outstanding clinical and research contribution to ADHD by recognising an emerging Australasian researcher or clinician-scientist who has made a significant contribution to the field of ADHD.

Now in its 5th year, the Florence Levy Emerging Researcher Award reflects AADPA’s commitment to supporting and promoting innovation in research, insights, and analytics to advance the field of ADHD.

The Award is open to all AADPA members with a PhD or equivalent qualification obtained within the last 10 years (as of June 30, 2025). Please see the full criteria below.

The recipient of the 2025 Award will be presented at AADPA’s 8th Annual Conference to be held in Sydney from 26 – 27 July 2025. The winner will receive $2,000 with an Award Trophy and an invitation to present at the 8th Annual Conference, including complimentary registration, travel to and from Sydney, and two night’s accommodation at Hilton Sydney.

Prof. Florence Levy: 1937-2020

Professor Florence “Flo” Levy exemplified excellence in clinical practice and research throughout her remarkable five-decade career. As a pioneering female academic and physician-researcher, she broke new ground in child psychiatry while advocating tirelessly for families affected by ADHD.

A strong advocate for female academics, a trailblazer for physician-researchers, and an inspiring mentor for many clinicians and researchers, her extensive research contributions established her as a world authority on ADHD, while her mentorship inspired generations of clinicians and researchers.

To be considered for this Award, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a current AADPA member;
  2. Be actively involved in conducting ADHD research;
  3. As of June 30, 2025, hold a PhD or equivalent qualification obtained within the last 10 years. Career interruptions, e.g., carer responsibilities and illness/injury, will be taken into consideration, and
  4. Be available to attend and present at the 2025 AADPA Conference (in person or virtually)

Applications will be evaluated on:

  • Research impact and innovation
  • Quality and influence of published papers (3-5 papers are desirable)
  • Contribution to advancing ADHD knowledge and practice (relative to opportunity)
  • Innovation in research approach and methodology
  • Research achievement and recognition
  • Invited presentations and other professional recognition
  • Clear vision for future ADHD research
  • Potential for lasting impact in the field
